A Visit To The Cinema
His luminous dial shows a quarter to four-
He's left his yellow flashlight on the floor;
He's up the ladder and cutting down the curtains-
So it's a visit to the cinema, just to do some alterations.

His luminous dial shows four fifteen-
He's down on his knees cutting and pulling
Up the carpets, and rolling them in piles-
So it's a visit to the cinema, to alter the aisles.

His luminous dial shows a qaurter to five-
He's uprooting upholstry with a carving knife-
This is where the management gave it to his girfriend-
So it's a visit to the cinema to teach those sods a lesson.

Early saturday morning when the cleaning ladies come
He'll be fast asleep, safe & warm at home
And the dear cleaning ladies will let the management know
That a patron didn't leave last night after the show...
No, he didn't seem to enjoy the show.

His luminous dial shows it's almost dawn-
He's sitting in the pound seats, stifling a yawn.
Down amongst the cheap seats gleams a silent pond-
So it's a visit to the cinema, just to leave the hoses on.

His luminous dial shows it's time to go-
He's up the ladder again, working on a fresco,
A spray-paint masterpiece of messages in green...
So it's a visit to the cinema, just to illustrate the screen.

His luminous dial shows the streets are turning grey-
He runs up the aisle, laughing all the way
He puts a booted foot through the projector room door-
So it's a visit to the cinema, just to drop lenses on the floor
