ELECTRONICS & MECHANICS

I've been searching for information about electronics and mechanics on the Internet many times without result. therefore, I've created this site to help YOU and everybody else who are interested in the subject to find some information about it.
I will also tell you useful tips and links to other sites.

I'm very interested of building robots and i'll give you some tips about stuff that can be useful when you're bilding robots, automatic vaccum cleaner or whatever.

Using your computer's parallell port (printer port) to control models is very interesting thought. It has 8 channels which can be used to control things.
just click here to get more information.
I've done some experiments using the parallell port to control robots, and the result is very positive.
The parallell port is very easy to use because you need no UART (if you use the serial port you need a type of converter, called UART).

Want some info about digital IC:s ?

A relatively unknown material is MEMORY ALLOY. It is mostly an alloy between nickel and titanium and has particular characteristics -it remember then shape it was made in. if you demolish a ring of memory alloy and then immerse it in hot water, it will become normal again. A wire made of memory alloy can be used to for example drive a robot arm or to steer a small car. if you want more info about memory alloys then click!

If you are looking for some kind of circuit diagram then go to my circuit gallery

I often make programs in QuickBasic, and if you also are interested you can download some of my programs. I've made some programs for controling my robots, and "roboshop.bas" is an example of how simulate the movement of a robot.
If you are interested in QuickBasic then maybe you can Email me and tell me what you've done, and I will mail you back so we can exchange our knowledges.

Here are some programs that I've made:

a program that speaks! At the "LANGUAGE" prompt, type swedish. Enter a word the way it's pronounced -not the way it's normally written! This program is just an alpha release so feel free to modify. please tell me if you know how to improve it.
The control program for my robot
A graphic robot simulator
Use letters "U/D/R/L". for example the sequence "UUUDDD:" moves leg 1-3 up and leg 4-6 down. Catch the fly - a nice little game
Draw with your keyboard

And, for those of you who don't have QuickBasic, here it is. If you have an other version that is not complete, then download.(I have one in swedish and it can't make EXE files. If you want it, then Email me)
Download it!!! (It is zipped and takes about 1 Mb).

Building robots

I'm very interested in building robots, and at the moment I am constructing a six legged robot which will be able walk around and explore its surroundings all by it self.
It can also be set in a mode where I have full control over it and I will also be able to control it via a homebuilt terminal. Via the terminal can I tell it where to go, measure the temperature and listen to the sounds in its surroundings. It can also be used to spy at people which can be very useful.
The processor I use is an Intel 80C32, a rather powerful microcontroller which can be programmed in basic using "Bascom Lt".(see "my projects")

PS.
I live in sweden so if you speak swedish then it's good. I do also speak english rather good so you can write in English if you want
