6. Law and order during the time of the Tiger Emperor
Shi Huang did whatever it took to make his will the law, one of his first measures was to make the punishments even severer than it was before,
he sanctioned several cruelties that hadn't been known to the Chinese people before. The death penalty could now also include the relatives of the criminal on either side.
The judges were very constructive in their efforts to invent new ways of executing a person. Instead of just decapitating people, criminals could be cut in half,
boiled alive or torn apart by running horses.
A richly developed mix of lower penalties existed as well, among other things one can mention is branding on the forehead,
tearing out a rib, castration and other mutilations. The number of people that was sentenced to castration is said to be about a million.
Many of these had probably just ignored their emperor's decree about unification in his empire.
