LTE became a huge commercial success, selling far more then expected. This was not strange by any means. When you combine four of the world's best musicians Mike Portnoy, John Petrucci, Jordan Rudess and Tony Levin, who all need no further résumé, in a studio, they are bound to accomplish something great. Their creativity seems to have no limits, with LTE2; they achieve something really spectacular, continuing with the same musical quality and celebrated musicianship. The first track titled "Acid Rain" is a real shredder with cool fast metal riffing, with a following jam. The compositions are at times crazy with complex time signatures and are often very similar to Dream Theater. The centerpiece is the almost 17- minute long "When the water breaks", and is as Mike Portnoy put it "It's just the ultimate Liquid Tension piece". LTE2 is a surprise, it would be great no question about it, but that great. It's more overwhelming then the first release.
