Written by Greger Rönnqvist

This intricate debut album from Kenziner is mainly the work of the talented Jarno Keskinen, a 24-year-old guitar maestro from Riihimäki, Finland. He's composed all of the music and he's playing all the instruments except the drums that are played by Dennis Lesh (Trouble, Chastain, and Stygian). They also got a talented singer in Stephen Fredrick (Billy The Kid) whose voice is reminiscent to Ronnie James Dio. Another guitarist, the famous David T. Chastain, produces the album.

Jarno's first musical influences were heavy metal bands such as Iron Maiden and W.A.S.P. Later he became interested in classical music such as Bach, Vivaldi, Paganini and Corelli. He sent a demo tape to Leviathan Records that caught the interest of David T. Chastain. Does this sound familiar? I guess so; it's almost exactly what happened to Yngwie Malmsteen. And the similarities don't end there. This album is also very similar to Yngwie's works. The music is a mixture of symphonic progressive metal and neo-classic hard rock. Other similarities would be Blind Guardian, Stratovarius and his fellow countryman, the Finish guitarist Lars Eric Mattsson.

The musical market is now overflowing with progressive metal and guitarist that sounds like Yngwie Malmsteen, and if you want to be recognized you must have great songs to separate yourself from the others. Kenziner have the ability to do so. All the compositions are excellent with very strong melodies. The highlights are hard to pick, as there aren't any weak tracks. The most memorable tracks would be "Future Signs" and "Into The Light".

The album has a great packaging with a nice cover artwork by Rainer Kalwitz from Germany. A great album that would appeal to all Yngwie Malmsteen fans. I recommend you to buy it!
