LEFTOVERTURE
Written by Magnus Florin

Leftoverture by Kansas, one of my favourite bands. What can I say more than this is one of the best albums ever made. Of course many will recognize the introducing track "Carry On Wayward Son", which also is the track that made me buy the album. I knew that I wanted to hear Kansas and I thought that this album, with that song, was going to be a real good start. Other tunes worth mentioning are tracks 1, 2, 3, 4... well all of them actually. The only negative thing I have to say is that Magnum Opus, with the exception of one part, is instumental. Of course this is quite entertaining to, even if I'm more of a vocal guy, but if I would choose a band to hear instumental music with then it would be Kansas (or Dixie Dregs).

This album is also one of those which had the original member line-up, with Kerry Livgren and Robby Steinhardt. Of course nowadays, Robby is back, but the only originals left today are Steve, Rich, Robby and Phil. I guess four out of six is good enough.

The main song writer on Leftoverture is Kerry Livgren, since he's done five of the eight songs all on his own, and with assistand from Steve on two of them. Magnum Opus is a song with leftover parts, put together by the whole band. The albums' name was really gonna be Magnum Opus, and the songs' name Leftoverture. For some reason they switched.

If you really like music buy Leftoverture by Kansas!
