From Thy Ashes is a progressive metal act from Germany. They've supported bands like Edguy and Iron Saviour, and are probably one of the heavier bands from Germany. The music is dark, technical, and the production is surprisingly good considering the fact that 'One with the Waves' is a self-financed release. The CD consists of four tracks: 'Dancing Green Lizards', 'Synchronicle', 'A Momentary Dream' and 'Towards Desolate Oceans'. The compositions are very complex and innovative, showing their musical skills and writing ability. They have created an original style, exploring the new directions within the progressive metal genre. Intricate guitar solos, technical fast punchy drumming and great sounding vocals runs through all 25 minutes of music. The production lacks a professional edge, but is still not bad, but doesn't fulfill the most demanding audience. From Thy Ashes is one of the better bands coming out of Germany, that's for sure, and hopefully they will release a full-length album soon.
