Some old Marillion fans may wonder what Fish is up to these day. A lot of them, of course followed him in his career and have every single thing he's released. The –97 release from Derek William Dick is Sunsets on Empire, a real good album compared to what he's been putting out before that. As I see it there's "Vigil in a Wilderness of Mirrors" and "Sunsets..." that are the best.

The album starts out with an almost 9 minutes long track, no epic, but just long. I've always thought that if Fish appears on an album and has credit for writing the lyrics, then it's worth buying just for that. He has always fascinated me, playing with words. In the old Marillion days he used to sing these strange words that not many knew what they meant. Nowadays there's more the usual language, with a depth though. Songs worth mentioning on this one are tracks 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9. I have never liked Fish as a singer, but the thing that makes him a genius is his attitude in it. He doesn't care if he won't have that perfect technical voice or singing. It's more in the passion and attitude. That goes for this records too, even if this is his best singing appearance.

I've gotten my hands on the Special Limited Edition with a bonus CD, containing an interview with Fish. If you like the scottish language and the sound of it, then this bonus is highly recomended. It's great just sitting there listening to the dialect. He speaks about Sunsets On Empire, Marillion days, Wars, Rascism and a whole lot more. It's a 19 track CD, with around 4-6 subjects on each...
