"Fearless" is Fig Leaf's fourth album, which draws attention to this Norwegian band once again, after the success with the 95-release "Plays Bob W. and other Selections". The combination of jazz, ordinary hard rock and progressive rock makes the diverse compositions phenomenal. The Who, Yes, Megadeth, Zappa, Santana and Hendrix are few of the musical influences Fig Leaf shows. The varied musical backgrounds of the band result in an interesting sound unlike anything else, contrary, much of the progressive rock released today. The disc totals a playtime of nearly 65 minutes. The title track 'Fearless', is divided into eight parts and is clearly the highlight of the album, spanning approximately half of the total playtime. The use of sax, flute and Fender Rhodes makes the music even more exciting. The production is of the higher divisions, mature, worth no critical remarks. The mixture of music styles combined with innovative songwriting and outstanding musicianship makes "Fearless" one of the best productions of 1999.
