SURFACE TENSION
Written by Christian Axén

It isn't often you hear a new band as good as Clockwork. Clockwork develops the sound of today's progressive metal, and reach new heights with their debut "Surface Tension". Inspired by bands like Yes and Dream Theater the often-long compositions are very complex and they continuously turn to the unexpected. The band consists of five young really talented musicians, most of which have studied at the famous Berklee Collage of Music, show amazing musical skills, both in playing and writing. The disc totals 54 minutes, and features 8 songs, which are totally outstanding. When listening to the album, you get the feel that it could have been 16 songs instead of 8. The songs explores the boundaries of progressive metal, and often, not unlike Dream Theater. The tight technical progressive metal is combined with beautifully performed lyrics and choruses. All songs are truly astounding and Clockwork set the boundaries of tomorrows progressive metal.
