Remember ! Those
are really My Own Opinions
You
dont
have to agree
at all..
:)
First some small words of advice. If you got MS_Explorer you wont
be able to use all of my facillities,
cause it does not support Netscapes java_script fully out
If you need a good
browser for now, i would recomend Netscapes
First
of all. It's
them who is developing java_script. That means that
It's gonna be their browser
who will support it first.
And theirs the company that
works most intimately with Sun,
who,
as ya all know have presented
us with the perfect solution to a perfect world
That's right J
A V A...
btw: Java is going
to be the new open standard for the WWW
and (maybe)
VRML "in_making". Virtual worlds that is D
.
Yes, i've heard that there
is Silicon Graphics VRML 2.?
( Moving Worlds )
That version ( 2.2)
doesn't use Java as its scripting language, instead it uses VRML Script.
But there seems to be practically
no difference between
VRML Script and Java Script
according to sources i've heard.
But
if you find that to much, Try TCL_scripting,
with some 25 lines of code
you'll get a fully interactive program filled
with...whatever
I
dont like Microsofts new browser
4.0.
I've downloaded it &
installed it on my W_95.
The first two times i try
to start after installing it, it
just hang there, just before
going GUI.
I then
get a error complaining about my shell32.dll.
So i decide it's
corrupted/changed whatever..
I install W_95 again over
my old one. Throwing out all new(ER) dlls etc etc.
Well it starts H A L T I
N G L Y and..
Sort of works.
S l o w l y.
What i would like to have
from that version is the opportunity to treat
my "desktop" etc in a html_fashion,
that is a very good idea.
There
seems to be some farfetched explanation
that It Will
Work
but
only with the latest
version of W_9(?)7
And of*_course
with their new system Memphis...
That will have all of those
finesses anyway
probably built in into the
kernel.
( and Yes. Now
they've
confessed
that it is so ;)
But, that's
a joke. This browser
is'nt a beta
(Alpha?),
This
should be a functional version...
Dont
get me wrong now
I do find W_95 one of, if not, the
nicest GUI tha i've ever played with
BUT
I dont like the MicroSoft
way of making their software so
un_open, at the same time
as they tell you that it's so open...
That is, as long as you
use their "magical interface"
And directX. That's also
a joke.. Yeah i know that it works..

From microsofts side it's a very good strategy.
They are accually shaping
a new generation of third_party programmers
who constructs "their programs"
using MicroSoft_interfaces
that they dont really understand.
Wha_Do_Ya_Mean, mean
one
?
Well, first you have the
compiled code, the next logical step up is assembler.
That is a very hard milleu
for most programmers to live in, so as the next step
you'll find the older programming_languages
like "C" and Cobol and "Basic"
(wich BTW more is like a
scripting_Language).
Still those languages aint
reuseable,
so now we construct high_level_languages
that moves even further away from the real
compiled code. Programs
like C ++ or ... whatever..
Well, that would be understandable,
but from the fact that we
now have one Company
(That's MicroSoft)
that with their Event_steered
GUI_enviroment has
really crushed the competition.
And as they've made it very
hard to understand their original way of
shaping their GUI (Graphical
User Interface) they offer us yet another
interface
(Visual
c++) to interface with their old Programming_interface.
And not only that,
they
give us one interface more, now called
ActiveX
to fasten up our graphics.
So the programmers move
even further away from the real code.
And when you're using something
that B I G in way of Generally_shaped
libraries
You'll end up with a lot
of "overhang", sort of, in your compiled code.
So the 3_party_Softwares
will get Bigger and Slower and Bigg . .
...Did i hear
the world Complicated
???
:):):)
But
the consumer
wont notice,
cause
every three months
thine
computa gets
a litle faster
Presuming
ofcourse, that
you'll buy
a new one
:)
Of
course, i know that
this "trend"
is a generell one,
shared by most of the Software_idustri
´
But the real shame is that
that those guys who have mastered some
pretty difficult High_Level
Programming_language ends up
with knowing Diddely_Squat_Nothing
about their real code structure.
They have moved so far away
from what needed to be written in form of
machine_instructions and
are using such compartementalized language
that they themselves would
have a hell of a time understanding
their finished results if
they tried to read their own lowlevel_code.
My view is that instead
of building highlevel on highlevel on ..
Microsoft should have started
with making their GUI_interface
as easily read & written
as possible.
Then we would'nt have had
the need for new strange
"Simplyfing Concepts" that
takes you even further away from the code.
And my point being made
is this, that when we all now how to make programms
that works (sort
of:).
We will only know how to make them for MicroSoft..
Because all the libraries
we use and all the OOP:s GUI_code we learnt is
written for being used in
one enviorment only
That in it self dos'nt need
to be a bad thing
It's called Standardisation,
right. :)
But when all the underlying
code is unknown to us
and understood only by "The
Experts"
W E L L
"read
my lips" as one said
or was it Dolly
??
No, then it would have been
"Read
my
Boops".
Think about it.
But beware, there could
be hair growing on your hands ...:)(:

Nevermind
what Microsoft says about their digital.
signatures_sheme,
when your downloading a activeX script /program you're inviting disaster
:).
Why ? well, anyone programming (: in the language
of their choice
:) for ActiveX
can do whatever "they" want with your computer, as soon as you download
it,
as long as they adhere to Microsofts regulations
vivasi the programming_interfaces.
And do you want to use your browser as it's
meant to?
You
better check Preferences in
Netscape or View in MS explorer.
There
you'll find something called Advanced in wich
you'll be able to to change your Cache_size.
DO
IT...(change your size that is
:).
In
netscape you'll find two caches. One that is the ram_Cache, and one that
writes
to your HardDisk and treats that as memory_reserve.
In
MS_explorer there seems to be only one ?
At least,
that you yourself can tune in.
My experience
is that you'll find Netscape more able in showing you other
peoples
pages than MS_explorer
Also,
i've found that people does'nt set the right speed for their ports
out to the modem.
You do
this in W95 at the Control Panel / modem and at the System folder.
The
speed for a 28 000 bps modem, with a newer (2-3 year old) computer is 115200
bps,
and if
you uses a 14400 its about 56000 bps.
With an compressed file,
you should at least be able to get a 3.2 KBytes/sec over a 28.8Kbps connection.
2.7 KBytes/sec over a 24
Kbps connection. 1.6 KBytes/sec over a 14.4 Kbps connection;
And at last...
have
fun &
do C

on
everything around
here.
