A nice and spectacular walk to the
potato patches

After leaving Edinburgh westwards on the northern slopes
of the volcano
you will meet a rural landscape with hens and cattle strolling
freely.

And just around the last corner you will find the potato
patches.

Even here rain can be torrential and causing erosion.

In January you will find the potato blossom in the patches,
protected from the prevailing wind by stonewalls.

The Tristanians put a lot of work and love here and have
a
good harvest, but we have to go back those 3 miles to Edinburgh.
