The background...

It all happened outside Trollhattan (the "Saab-town") in Sweden, June 14, 1994 when the old farmer decided to sell his sweetheart, a Mercury Monterey -53. It took him over a year to come to that decision... The mercury had been standing in a barn for over 20 years, so it had sunk half way down to Australia in the mud. We had to pull it out with a tractor. The car said 90.000 km on the odometer. Not much for an old car like that! I have now been working with the car for over 2 years, trying to restore it to the condition it once had. Unfortunatly I have too little time to spend, but I will continuesly report here both in text and pictures how the project goes on. I appriciate information from other Mercury owners.

Even the interior was good, except for the inner roof (rats, you know...).



The engine looked worse than it was.



So far, so good, but it takes time!!!
