If you would like to learn
how to make Gum Bichromate prints
why not come along to one of my Workshops.
This is how it used to be,
in the days when I used formaldehyde
to harden the gelatin coated papers.
After one intense weekend, you will be able to
make
your own prints with this captivating process.
There are four basic types of Workshop available.
Read about the alternatives and then if you are interested or would like
more details, fill out the form below.
1. Intense Weekend of Gum Printing I work with
a small group from early Saturday until late Sunday. This Workshop concentrates
on the making of Gum prints and requires that you have a suitable negative
before you arrive. You leave with your own gum prints in your hand and
the knowledge that you can go home with to produce your own prints.
2. Intense weekend plus one extra day to learn
how to produce the negatives required Many people have considered tying
out these processes yet have been discouraged because they have never produced
a negative larger than 35mm. These processes require a negative as large
as the final image. This stage is actually one which brings forth much
of the personality of the artist and results in the reason why gum prints
can look so different from one artist to another. A negative does not even
need to be created from a photograph. We discuss all of this and then create
a film negative which can produce gum prints for the weekend Workshop.
3. One Week Workshop In this Workshop we explore
each step towards making your own Cyanotype or Gum prints. This would include
shooting some film, processing, producing large negatives and printing
the results.
4. I come to your class, photo club or other
group Quite often many artists and photographers have heard about these
processes yet never seen a real Gum or Cyanotype print. I show my work
and explain the basics in a couple of hours. If space, materials and more
time are available then I also demonstrate the making of a Cyanotype and
a Gum Bichromate print.
At the moment these Workshops are conducted in Stockholm,
Sweden. I do however travel to the States and the UK now and then so if
there is enough interest I am sure we could arrange something. There might
be an artist who works with these processes, living in your vicinity, willing
to give workshops. Check out some of my Photography
Links to find such information.
