PhotoGum

Photography by Jeff Stanford

Welcome to the first PhotoGum Gallery. In these galleries I will attempt to introduce you to various Alternative Photographic Processes that I work with. Gradually I will be including the works of other Photographers. This could include group shows and even works that are not Alternative Processes. If you have work you would like to show or other ideas and comments, send an e-mail message to me.

Some of these images are scans I have made from slides of my work. Most however are scans I made from the original black & white negatives and then worked on with various progams to make them look like my prints. I am still working on the scanning process so perhaps I will be adding more scans from prints soon.

The Cloud

Golan Heights

I shot this second image up on the Golan Heights, in late 1982. The stone house was one of many such reminders of war in the middle of the Israeli occupied territories. At the time the Lebanon War was raging not very far away, here though it was very quiet. Standing up there I could see down into the valley below and I remember thinking how small it all was. I wondered about how such a small piece of land could produce so much history.

I print this image and the one above it as Cyanotypes. This one I have printed best on hand made paper from Napal. The paper has a very raw quality which works well with this image. If you would like to know more about Cyanotypes try this link or some of the links in my Photography Links page.
