The German Shepherd ! |
| Wolves has always been my absolute favorite among animals.
This site will contain a
lot of information and pictures of wolves, I also have some god links to
other Wolf sites.
Now I finally meet the wolf eye-to-eye,
visit my page "Wolf Photos"
to
see my own images of the wolves in Kolmardens park. It was both a little
bit scary an very fascinating to be among the wolves.
They were very suspicious at the
beginning but after a while they accepted us and came one by one to greet
us. They have been brought up by humans so they accept us as wolves,
however make no mistake they are the pack leaders here.
They have a body language that are
much clearer then dogs, so they let you know what they like and what they
son not in a very clear and fair way

So I'm a wolf
fan and of course I'm also an owner of a beautiful, 5 years old BLACK
The German Shepherd are one of the dogs that shows many
similaritys to the wolf.
These pages
will contain information about the German shepherd and also some of my best photos of
Akita (my black German Shepherd) and other German shepherds.
New images of Akita in the
German shepherd section.

The
wolf is a large predator that depends on large prey for survival. These
include deer, elk, caribou, and in some parts of its range, moose and
bison that tip the scales at more than a thousand pounds. It has powerful
jaws capable of exerting over 1500 pounds per square inch, or about twice
that of the domestic dog. It is accustomed to a feast and famine
existence, often going many days without eating before gorging as much as
20 pounds in a single sitting. It's role in nature is removal of the sick
and the weak, and in this way they create a win-win relationship with its
prey. The end result is a system which has succeeded for hundreds of
thousands of years. |

The wolf is a highly social animal,
generally living within the same pack for most, if not all, of its life.
Survival depends very much upon the pack. The members of the pack
cooperate in hunting, killing large prey, feeding and caring for the
young, defending their territory against other packs, and more. The pack
functions as a strong autocratic system, with each individual having
fought for its rank within the group. Generally only the top male and
female are permitted to breed, while any attempts to do so by others are
punished. When to hunt, where to hunt, and many other activities are
determined by the pack leaders.
