The 2003 Helvetis-Boda Challenge Trophy was played in the Falun/Borlänge area in Dalarna the 31/5 to 1-6.
This tournament was arranged by Magnus Nehard and we lived in his newly built recreational family house in Larsarvet, just outside Falun. The house itself turned out to be really nice and combined with the careful and considerate planning of Magnus and his brother Tomas, this turned our to be a very relaxing and enjoyable weekend. Food was plentiful (including BBQ) and the Aspeboda golf course turned out to be very varying and fun to play.
Since thursday was a public holiday, many of us arrived on that day and got a perfect opportunity to play a practise round of golf at Aspeboda on Friday. Magnus successfully negotiated with the golf club representatives, resulting in weekend passes reducing our cost of greenfee with 30%.
* The tournament itself ended up with the brothers Liljedahl tied at first place, scoring an average of 36 points per round. For the first time in the history, we consulted the "News & Rules" section of this homepage to decide who had won. Due to a misunderstanding by Johan Lauri (Laxen), Mike went home with the trophy, only later to discover that Jonas was the true Champion due to a "better worst round".
Recreational activities included playing "Kubb", cards and watching tv, but without a doubt, our spare time activities were dominated by playing "Counter-Strike" on the six lap-top computers we managed to bring with us to Dalarna. Some of the participants were not too happy with this but suggested we ban computers in the future since it meant drinking too little beer and socialising too little.
After a long and very relaxing weekend in beautiful weather in Dalarna, most of us went home tired, but with a smile on our lips.
