The 2000 Helvetis-Boda Challenge Trophy, the first of the new "Millenium", was played 3-4 of June at Vreta Kloster, Linköping  a two and a half hour drive south of Stockholm.

Very unpredictable weather conditions the days before the tournament added to the suspense of the outcome of this years HBT challenge. Unfortunately, "Helan" had the poor sense to get married that very same weekend, forcing Goose and Noge out of play and preventing Fredrik Andersson from a first appearance.

As it turned out, we had excellent lodging (an entire house in the countryside to ourselves), and although the first day of golf turned out chilly and very windy (10-12 m/s) the sun kept shining on us the entire weekend.

Golfwise, Peter Jangbratt turned out to be the best 16 HCP player anyone had ever seen and smashed all opposition halfway through day 2 of the competition. Nisse, Johan and Henrik played some really poor golf and Rimpa who had shown great form before this weekend left really disappointed.

Vreta Kloster GK was in excellent condition and although it was still fairly early in the golfing season, greens were close to perfect.

Spare time activities this year revolved very much around football (or soccer), and we managed to declare the "diamond defence tactics" of the Liljedahl brothers team D.O.A. Since the European soccer championship was close to getting started, Sweden played a last friendly game against Spain. Without playing very convincingly, Sweden managed to score a 1-1 draw.

Notably, we managed to eat well over 70 hot dogs night one. This consumption was followed by a seemingly endless game of Trivial Pursuit, guaranteeing less than three hours of sleep before the first day of golf.
