Uddevalla is a town with a broad spectrum of entertainment and cultural activities. During the summer you can dance in the open air on one of the town jetties or at Lane Loge and listen to concerts at Gustavsberg. All year around the Bohuslän Museum and the art galleries have exhibitions.

Uddevalla has a lot to offer when it comes to culinary experiences and entertainment. Some 30 restaurants are at your service, and while you are here you should of course take the opportunity to taste the local specialties. Salmon from Gullmarsfjorden and locally caught mackerel and shellfish are some of the delicacies on the menu. If you prefer only a snack, you can enjoy this in one of the many pavement cafés. Would you like to have a beer - no problem!

Accomodation

You can be sure to find roof over your head, because Uddevalla has many alternatives for accomodation. There are several hotels, ranging from first class to small family hotels. You find youth hostels in beautiful surroundings and of course camping sites as well. You can also rent a cottage for a week and if you want to get close to the life on the countryside you can "Stay at a farm".

Events

In Uddevalla there is always something going on! Some of the annual happenings are:

The Fjord Festival - with a touch of the Vikings offers you lots of fun. Uddevalla will be a bustling town crowde by people, Vikings, merchants, music, live performances, competitions, restaurant and beer tents!

Midsummer celebration - This is when the summer days are longest, and many folk traditions are associated with this holiday. Midsummer is a very Swedish festivity.

The day of Bassholmen - An exhibition with traditional wooden boats from all over Bohuslän.

Restaurant festival - The reataurants move outside, tempting you with something to eat, something to drink and live music.

October festival - The pubs move outside. Feel the Munich spirit with the ompa-bompa music and have a beer, or two...

Jazz festival - A week filled with swinging music in Ljungskile, just south of Uddevalla.
