Break Me Shake Me

The fourth single from Savage Garden and this song shows that after four singles there is still variation in the sound of their songs as well as when it comes to writing lyrics. The song was chosen to be released next because of the response from the live audience while on their Australian Tour. The song debuted at #7 on the ARIA charts and at #4 on the AMR Charts. It sold 20,000 copies within the first week of its release.
This song was written about one of Darren's friends and was originally titled "Stepping Stones", with totally different lyrics. One day Darren sang it and the lyrics changed, making a new song which we now know as "Break Me Shake Me".

This is a very "angry" song, and very cool bass in it too. It starts slowly and then builds up into rage...

Features an Acoustic version of "Break Me Shake Me" which was recorded during their Australian Tour.
Also features a new song called "I'll Bet He Was Cool", where Darren hypothesizes how it would be if Jesus Christ walked on the earth today. It has a kind of Steve Wonder thing going and also about spirituality.
