Björk "Possibly maybe" (part 3)
This single starts with a remix of "Big time sensuality" by Plaid. It sounds
like a bit of a further development of Fluke's "Big time sensuality"-remix
from 1994. The biggest difference is the jungle-beat in the background and
Björk's vocalizations (they've been re-sung and Björk has used
a quite childish tune of voice). The result is even more graceful than Fluke's
remix and I'd say this its one of my all-time-favorite-Björk-remixes....at
least my favorite "Debut"-remix so far. No-one who's heard this remix can
say there's no soul in computer-music....
The second track is called "Visur vatnsenda-rosu" and it sounds completely
different from the first track. It's a cover of an Icelandic folk-song with
a moody, quite church-like atmosphere. Björk is singing along to a piano
and suddenly a clarinet breaks in. The result is quite hymn-like and extremely
graceful. A must-hear!
Then it goes on with a pretty cool live-version of "Possibly maybe"
with some interesting samples and an accordion (!). Some change of lyrics
can also be found. The Front 242/ Einstürzende Neubatzen-like "Hyperballad
(Over the edge live)" is the single's least interesting track since it's
not very different from "Hyperballad (Over the edge mix)" from the "It's
oh so quiet"-single or "Enjoy (Further over the edge mix)" from the
"Telegram"-disc. Anyway, I'd say "Big time sensuality (Plaid remix)" and
"Visur Vatnsenda-rosu" makes this a must-have-single. Björk still makes
me rise my eye-brows.
