Björk's listening to lots of pre-war-pop, though her anti-sentimental attitude. "It's oh so quiet" was written by Hans Lang and Bert Reisfeld and performed by Betty Hutton during the 40s. The original title was "Blow a fuse". "People think my version is over the top but hers makes mine the ambient version! I guess the song describes pretty well what being in love feels like cause it's in and out, isn't it?", Björk explained.
"It's oh so quiet" became the third single from "Post" and it was released
in November 1995 as two CD EPs with remixes of "Post"-songs and two new tracks
("My spine and "Sweet sweet intuition"). A lot of the songs can be found
on Björk's remix-album "Telegram". "It's oh so quiet" became the album's
major hit-single and gave Björk play-time even on the mainstream radio.
The song sold about 500 000 singles and Spike Jonze directed a video for
it with dance-steps taken from an original Hollywood musical from the 40s.
Björk learned all the dance-steps in two days, then filmed the video
in Los Angeles inbetween shows during the "Post"-tour. Björk was ill
and had to cancel shows for the first time since 1987, when she recorded
the video. Wow....isn't she amazing?

The words
It's oh so quiet
You fall in love
'til it's over and then
You blow a fuse
It's oh so quiet
You ring the bell
'til it's over and then
You blow a fuse
The sky caves in |
