Björk "Aeroplane"

Björk recorded her first version of "Aeroplane" back on Iceland in 1990 together with three Icelandic brass players. It became the first "Debut"-demo. Björk wanted to re-record the song together with Graham Massey, who she knew from the music she'd heard with 808-state (the band he plays in) so she called him and then she sent him this demo. They never re-recorded the track but Graham Massey wanted Björk to appear on an 808-state-record, instead. So Björk recorded two song ("Ooops" and "Q-mart") together with 808-state, which appeared on the album "Ex:el" (released in 1991) and that incident became the beginning of a long working-relation-ship.

Björk re-recorded the song together with  Nelleh Hooper and Oliver Lake from The World Saxophone Quartet instead. She wrote the lyrics for the song while she was still with The Sugarcubes and lived in Reykjavik and had to travel around the world to meet Dom T.

The words

I can not live
Peacefully without you
For even a moment
I miss you terribly
When you're away

He's away
This ain't right
I'm alone
I'm taking an aeroplane
Across the world
To follow my heart

How come
Out of all the people in the world
Only one
Can make me complete
One word on the phone
Makes me happy
But one touch directly
Makes me ecstatic

He's away
This ain't right
I'm alone
I'm taking an aeroplane
Across the world
To follow my heart
