Björk "Gling-gló"
Björk and trio Gudmundar Ingolfssonar comes together for some covers and the result is this charming, quite interesting 16-track-jazz-album. Even if I normally don't like jazz, I like when Björk's singing jazz 'cause that gives her a chance to show the world what incredible things she can do with her voice. The Gudmundsdottir-vocalizations on this album are better than on any other Björk-album. She's screaming, moaning and making lots of those lovely roaring-sounds plenty of times all over this album. If I should choose two tracks to call the best ones, then there's no doubt it would be "Ruby baby" and "I can't help loving that man". Those two tracks have got something that makes me love them more than the rest, I don't know if it's just because I understand the lyrics. If I have to stick to the Icelandic tracks then it would probably be the harmonic "Luktar-Gvendur" (that was the first melody that got stuck on my mind) and the more experimental "Kata rokkar" with fantastic piano-efforts from Gudmundur Ingolfsson. I think the album would have been more interesting if Björk had chosen some more worldwide known jazz-songs to cover like the album's two last ones. Some of those Icelandic songs sounds so childish and simple but please don't misunderstand me, that doesn't go for all of them. Anyway, please bring us more covers like this album's two final-tracks, Björk!
