Sugarcubes "It's
it/Remixes"
I'm not a very big fan of remix-albums, unless they're Björk-related.
Circa 90 percent off the remix-albums you find in a record-store are just
unnecessary tries to make more money for the artist and the record-company
and I'm sorry to say it but that goes for this one too. There are two really
smashing remixes at this album. Marius de Vries' remix of "Pump", that's
and the "Bryan Chuck New"-mix of "Water", with some of the greatest drum
and guitar-sounds you'll ever find at a Sugarcubes-song. The rest of the
remixes has neither got the rawness, strength or surplus of energy you find
at an original Sugarcubes-song. They're just slower, more synthetic and poppier
versions of the originals. The Sugarcubes had their roots in Icelandic punk,
that's something you can't tell from this album. I don't know what you think
but I consider two good songs and eleven really mediocre ones not reason
enough to buy an album. I only recommend "It's it" to Sugarcubes-fanatics
and Björk-fans who hates all kinds of guitar-ridden music.
