Björk "It's oh so quiet" (part
2)
When the four songs on the first "It's oh so quiet"-single was all from different
musical categorizes, the four songs on this one are all acoustic. But that
doesn't mean they are less experimental or something like that. After the
title-track you hear my absolute favorite-Björk-remix "Hyperballad (Brodsky
quartet version)". "Hyper-ballad" has been re-arranged into a song played
on violin and cello by a string-quartet. The arrangement is fantastic and
the performance is also fantastic. Brodsky quartet are playing this song
with such an incredible engagement. It's not often you hear songs played
on violin/cello written by pop-artists as good as this one. Depeche Mode
wrote a song in 1993 they called "One caress" that a string-quartet performed.
The song was good but it didn't have neither such a good arrangement or such
an incredible engagement as this one. Of course there's nothing like the
real thing but I find the Brodsky quartet's "Hyperballad"-remix as good as
the original version.
Except from "It's oh so quiet" and "Hyperballad (The Brodsky quartet mix)"
you find one more "Hyperballad"-remix and one non-LP-track. The second
"Hyperballad"-remix is a very silent one. Björk is singing the song
a little bit slower and with a sadder tone of voice and that has been making
the whole song sadder. It really is interesting to hear how many good remixes
you can make with just one song. The non-LP-track is unfortunately not that
good. It's called "My spine" and it's the only Björk-song I just can't
stand. Björk is singing along to an incredibly annoying exhaust pipe.
But that song is not making to much damage. The two "Hyperballad"-mixes are
making this second "It's oh so quiet"-single even better than the first one.
This is a must-have-one!
