Björk "Isobel"

Except from the song "Isobel" this single contains two non-LP-tracks and one remix. If I have to compare the first non-LP-track "Charlene" with any other Björk-song I guess "Possibly maybe" should be the best one. A silent, angst-ridden track with music made by Black Dog. The keyboards could have been taken from a "Debut"-remix, the bass-line is extremely groovy and at one place I can hear some vinyl-scratch. The melody is very strange, very Björky and gives you the same feeling of sorrow as "Possibly maybe". An incredible song, probably one of her best ones ever and undoubtedly her best B-side.

While the remix of "Venus as a boy" you find at this single only proves to you that a grateful string-arrangement can't be replaced with a single harpsichord, the other non-LP-track "I go humble" sounds more like traditional pop than the rest of the Björk-B-sides. Some cool synthesized noises, Björk's voice and a melody much more cheerful and easy to sing along with than the melody to the spooky but genuine "Charlene". "I go humble" is also a good song much because of Björk's brilliant vocalizations. With this track and "Charlene" the "Isobel"-single is probably Björk's greatest single so far. A must-have-one!
