Björk "Hyperballad" (part
2)
This single also starts with a radio edited "Hyperballad". The following
track is an "Isobel"-remix made by British metal-band Carcass. I've got a
friend who's crazy about Carcass and hates Björk but he doesn't like
"Isobel (The Carcass mix)" neither. All the anger that you find at Carcass'
original albums is gone and all that's left is some really great guitar-efforts
that reminds me a little bit of the guitar-sounds from their latest album
"Swan song" (If my friend heard me say that he would probably think that
I was nuts). Carcass have made a terrific work with replacing the original
string-orchestra with guitars and the result is a really great
"metal-Björk-mix". Everyone who liked the Skunk Anasie-mix of "Army
of me" will surely love this one. The single continues with a "Cover me"-remix
made by Plaid. It's a scary, synthetic remix with some spiritual
background-keyboards and a filthy but interesting drum-sound. It sounds really
strange (even strange to be Björk!) but also really cool. If you like
Björk's raw techno-works such as "Enjoy" and "Hyper-ballad (Over the
edge mix)" I'm sure you're going to like this one too.
The remaining track is a "Hyperballad"-remix (I've got enough "Hyper-ballad"-mixes to put out a "Hyper-ballad"-remixalbum at the moment). One of my least favorite ones. A pretty nagging techno-track that starts off with Björk singing along to a saxophone and some weird, silent keyboard-effects. There are just some nice keyboard-effects at this eight minutes long remix. There aren't any acoustic works at any of the "Hyperballad"-singles and I think that's a pity. Even if this is a good single, I think Björk sounds best when she's acoustic or mixing acoustic works with electric ones.
