Interesting and "Just for Fun" Links.

  • Adobe Systems main web server; all kinds of Adobe news, free utilities and software updates.
  • Apple Computer main web server; company and product info, with pointers to support sites for utility and system software updates.
  • CIAC (Livermore Labs) computer security information site; everything from virus info to internet security and PGP.
  • Macintosh WWW info: Jon Wiederspan's Macintosh WWW Development Guide at the Univ. of Washington; links to Web development info, software, etc with valuable reviews and annotations.
  • Netscape Communications: makers of the Netscape web browser and other products. Their web page allows you to download the latest versions, and has links to lots of useful things, including web browser helper apps, HTML guides, cutting edge sites, etc. Too bad we missed their IPO.
  • Team OS/2 Online: links to OS/2 information, software, etc from the Team OS/2 support network. MicroWho?
  • Alta Vista: a very thorough key word search index. Possibly turns up more matches than Yahoo.
  • Yahoo: The Yahoo site is one of the most comprehensive WWW site index around. Literally thousands of links to web sites are organized by subject and are fully searchable. A good place to start if you're asking "I wonder if there's a site on...." There probably is.

  • AID: U.S. Agency for International Development.
  • OECD: Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. Long known as the "rich countries' club," the OECD has been sponsoring a lot of research on the problems of transition in Central and East Europe. Among other things, this site has details about their paper and electronic publications.

Great computer, library, and other research-related resources; one highlight is the Web-based access to the giant Current Population Survey and National Election Study datasets (forms allow you to select variables and cases for create-your-own custom datasets), with more to come.
  • Here, also, are some links to a few of our undergraduate alma maters: Smith College, Yale University, Oberlin College, Iowa State University, and Connecticut College.
