Edit97 V2.00


        Edit97 is an editor for EASports NHL97.  It will allow you
        to change the name, birthplace, number, and position of any
        player in NHL97 (created players now supported, back up 
        players.hdb).  

        You now have the option of editing a season that already is in
        progress.  I STRONGLY suggest backing up the rosters.hdb file
        before doing this.  I have had no trouble, but cannot guarantee 
        you won't.  All standard disclaimers apply.  Also, if you are using
        rosters created on another computer and downloaded over the net,
        you more than likely won't be able to edit a season in progress.

        Any changes made to the 'Default' season will affect exhibition 
        games and any season created AFTER the changes.  You may always 
        re-edit if this is not to your liking.
        
        You need a copy of vb40032.dll in your /system directory, and
        be sure to back up Players.hdb, nhl9596.exh, and rosters.hdb.
        You may find the file on Microsoft's web site, as well as 
        ftp.winsite.com and many other places on the internet.

        WARNING!
        screwing around with games' data files can be detrimental to
        performance and lead to crashes and file corruption.  Though
        this program hasn't done that for me you should back up your files.
        Consider yourself warned.


        Simply copy the Edit97.exe file to your "<NHL97path>\data\" 
        directory and run the program.  It should be self-explanatory.
        But just in case:
        1) Select a season ('Default' if you want your changes to affect
                future seasons automatically and exhibition games)
        2) Select the Team the player you want to edit is on.
        3) Find and select the player.
        4) His data will appear in the fields to the right.
        5) Note the 'Used Numbers' field.  Giving more than one player on 
                a team the same number has lead to crashes!
        6) Make changes.
        7) Press 'Apply'.
        8) Answer confirmation.
        9) Viola!

        'Additional' Players numbers.  Once again, was not released
        to the general public.

2.00 Rearranged fields to allow for new functionality.  Added the ability
        to edit existing seasons.  Added support for players created by
        the user.  Refined algorithm to improve accuracy (at the loss of 
        minimal speed).
