 So I finally tried NHL 98 for the PC. When I first started the game and looked at the intro then I began to think that "I'm going to love this game". When I saw the new "select panel" then I got confused. I didn't find anything (almost). So I just said that I would jump right in a Exhibition game and play. The play-by-play was almost the same and the graphics looked quite the same (I thought then). But when I played one game I realized how much I love this game. The play-by-play has been funnier with two commentators to speak. The passing was easier then in '97. The one-timers are easier to do then in '97. On the power play you can actually think about what to do rather then in '97 get guys right over you when you enter the opponents zone. The fights are cooler. And so on... I was very suprised to see that with my Pentium 200MMX without 3dfx card the game looked great and ran very smoothly. I have now bought a 3Dfx card and the graphics improved a lot. It was almost like playing another game. I finally want to say to YOU who am planning to buy a 3Dfx card: BUY IT! One more thing..In the Swedish version of NHL '98 we can choose to have Swedish text and a Swedish voice (by Arne Hegerfors) before the game and American voices during the game. I tried it first of course but I got very confused with everything being in Swedish (although it's my home language) so I uninstalled it and reinstalled it in English instead. I thought it looked better. Got any comments on my thoughts about the game? Let me know if you have any What about them BUGS? These are some of the bugs that I have found. 1. Some crashes (really not as many as in NHL 97) 2. Sometimes the numbers on the back dissapear when in the penalty box Thats about it that I can think of. Do YOU have other bugs in NHL '98? Send them to me and I will publish them here. Here are some of the bugs that some people have told me: 1. I had a penalty called on me, but hadn't touched the puck yet and I checked the oppposing team player and the puck went into the empty net as thier goaltender had been pulled. The game dissallowed this goal, even though by NHL rules it was a goal because I hadn't touched the puck. 2. If you have 10 minute periods in season play the GAA is twice what it is supposed to be. Exp: 1 game, 1 goal against = 2.00 GAA 3. If the puck is in the crease and you go in and get it and put it in, it dissallows the goal because you were in the crease. NHL rules say that you can enter the crease after the puck is in it. 4. One bug I have notice that sometimes after a replay the shadows under the players would dissapear, not sure why? 5. Mats Sundin is the wrong hand. Suppose to right handed. 6. In season mode, do you find that after you edit the lines, the computer changes them back after one game 7. Phil Housley has according to the career stats made about 20000 assists and about 20000 points...very strange that he has been able to do so much points in just 1000 games [Cheat codes] [Sign/View Guestbook] |
