Raukasjö

Up in the northernmost part of Jamtland  you find Raukasjö fjällgård.
The manager there Thommy Johansson lives there with his family.

Fishing and a spectacular nature is what meets you there. From where the road ends at Storjola. It’s some 13 kilometers into the wilderness before you reach Raukasjö Fjällgård.
During winter you find a pisted snowmobile road leading up into the mountains. The road goes over the ice of the lake Sannaren and then hides in the woods along a stream until it reaches the lake Raukasjö

At Tommy’s you can rent accommodation both during summer and winter.
Some years ago me and a friend of mine completed a map over the lake. On that map it is possible to see albl the shallow parts (and the deep parts) of the
1975 was the first time I tried fishing in Raukasjö. Usually the best fishing is just after the ice has captured the lake.
In the summer there is excellent fishing up in the small lakes but I usually  never leaves the big lake.

I do not have as much experience fishing the lake during summer as I have during wintertime but I usually manages to find the fish, partly due to the fact that I can find a small pattern in my diary which gives me a hint where to look. And a hint is needed since the lake stretches for almost 20 km.

The ”depth map”  (big picture) is a big help but nothing can replace all those hours that I have been searching where the elusive fish might have hidden themselves.
