I have recently finished a complete clutch job on my 944 Turbo - 90, which included replacing the throw out bearing, clutch disc, and pilot bearing. In the same time I changed oil, oilfilter, driveshaft, boostvalve, fuelfilter, and installed an autometer boostgauge.
After the trackdriving at Björkvik the clutch seemed to fuck up. I couldn´t shift gears, and the car was moving forward with the clutch-pedal down. The problem occurred when a small spring on the clutch had loosened from it´s place and fell in-between the flywheel and the pressureplate. Which is a verry common problem on the 944. This was in the middle of July, when the most of the Swedish people have vacation. I tried to call every Porsche mechanic in i knew, and they all had closed for the summer. Porsche Center and K3 could help me. If they could have the car in at least a week, and then rob me on
25 000SEK. At this moment I did not want to spend a such amount. But I was lucky anyway. Earlier that week I had posted a thread looking for help on the Swedish Porsche 944 forum. In the right of time Sphinx from Area 951 called me, offering to do the entire clutch job for a reasonable price. But first i had to buy the new clutch from Sandén biltekink because Sphinx only offerd me a Sinter clutch. Thanks Sandén for opening your doors on your vacation for me! Of course i bought a better clutch that is build for more power, and i´ts free from fuck-up springs. The only solution I could think of now was to rent a trailer for a week, transporting the Porsche to Gothenburg with my Volvo 740 , where Area 951 is located. Unfortunately the drive is three hundred - kilometers and tiresome. My car is quite low, and the first problem was to tow the car up onto the trailer. With some woodpieces and a black tounge I finally managed to move the car up on to the trailer. Finally after 4.5 H and five pitops, on gas stations to check airpressure in the wheels on the trailer and buy snacks, I arrived.

The trip went well, and I arrived at gothenburg late at night. Me and my girlfriend found a nearby hotel. The day after we managed to find Area 951, and the procedure started. First we had to jack up the car, and remove the aluminum engine protection shield. Then we continued with the exhaustsystem, gearlever and large protective cover on transmission bellhousing, exposing clamping sleeve. Then we had to disconnect the driveshaft axles and speedocable from transmission and suspend level with wire from shocks. As you need to remove half of the car to manage the clutch replacement procedure, the job took one day and a half day. I thought that this kind of job should not be undertaken by those without some mechanical ability. Therefore I would really recommend Area 951. , and Sandén Bilteknik as well, because their professionalism and good pricing.
