In addition to acting, Bello has directed and written several plays. In 1992, she and two other actors co-founded an arts and education program for New York's inner-city youth -- Dream Yard Drama Project for Kids. She continues to be active in Dream Yard, which now reaches more than 400 children citywide and will open its own alternative junior high school in Brooklyn in September.

Bello has guest starred in the series "Due South," on the CBS Television Network, "Nowhere Man," "Simon," and "Misery Loves Company." She also appeared in the television film "The Commish." Her feature film credits include "One Eye Open," "Maintenance" and "Morphosis."

Bello, one of four children of a construction worker and a school nurse turned teacher, was born and raised in Norristown, Pa., a small town outside Philadelphia. At Villanova University, she majored in political science and had every intention of becoming a lawyer. As a lark, she took a class in acting during her senior year and discovered her talent for it.

Once she was cast in "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," Bello began training in various forms of martial arts, including a form of Taiwanese street fighting called Moi Thai. She plans to do as many of her own stunts as possible. A lover of the outdoors, Bello has always wanted to be a "female Indiana Jones," and has hiked and camped all over the world.

She is single and lives in Los Angeles. Her birth date is April 18.
