We are doing a cross-curricular project, which includes the subjects English, History, French and Swedish. The project is called Beowulf because there is a story from the Viking era about a man with this name and his brave deeds. The story was written by the Anglo-Saxons in, what we today call, Great Britain. We wanted to compare the Vikings way of thinking to how we think today. Since religion has big influence on how people think but it is also a reflection of the society, we chose religion as our point of departure. What were their myths like, and where did they come from? How did they perceive the world? Are there any resemblances to the Christian world perception? What did they think happened after death, and how is this similar or different to our view of the life after death? We also wanted to know a little about what was important in their lives. |
