Tyson - A Security Guard Dog

In August 1997 Tyson passed the test (L-test) for becoming a professional working dog. The test is done by the Police here in Sweden, in order to select good dogs for training them to police dogs or security guard dogs. It took us more than six months more before we could start the training (we moved from Northern Sweden - Umeċ, to Stockholm in the "South"), but when we did Tyson was ready for work after only two months of training. In May 1998 Tyson passed another test done by the Police. This test shows if the dog´s able and willing to defend the security guard if someone goes to attack him/her. The dog has to listen to the guard when to attack or not, and it has to be able to transport and guard "the criminal". The dog also has to warn the guard if someone is hidden in places where there shouldn´t be any people and to attack without command if it notices an attack from someone before the guard does. A lot of training is behind this and there is also obedience tests which the dog has to pass before he/she can start working professionally. Tyson passed these final tests very well and has been a lot of help to me since then at work. These tests has to be done once a year to show if the dog is useful at work or not.
