Animal Experiments

"The great tragedy is not the evil peopleīs
brutality, but the good peopleīs silence."
Martin Luther King
In 1993 827,745 animal experiments took place in Britain and that number has not change since then. Animals are used in drug testing, medical research, cosmetical tests, warfare experiments, household product testing and psychology experiments. Many of these tests are completely unnecessary and useless, since you can use testing on cell cultures, human volunteers (cosmetics) and computers instead. Tens of thousands of people have suffered serious and permanent ill health, many have died, as a result of animal experiments. Animals are anatomically and psysiologically different to humans and tests results vary greatly from species to species.
You as a consumer can make a great difference - Buy products which are not tested on animals! Generally they are much better than products that have been tested, because human volunteers have tested them before you have to. In Sweden most cosmetics are not tested on animals and thats an argument many Cosmetic brands and shopkeepers use, BUT they import products which are tested on animals instead.
Companies that donīt test on animals
" I thought I was ill, I thought I was seeing things. It was a little monkey enclosed in a glass cage. Its eyes seemed to be falling out and it couldnīt breathe. It was in dreadful, dreadful distress. I forgot everything and went near and said something to it, and it buried its head in its arms and sobbed like a child. I never slept that night, and next day managed to go back to the same room, but it was nearly finished by then.
It had sunk to a little heap at the bottom of the glass cage."
