In 1986 Rikard Karlsson and Magnus Jönsson started a
band called Avanti. Later the same year Fredrik Bergman joined
the group, and Etage Neun was formed. After writing a couple
of songs Etage Neun were asked to make what would be theire
first live performance. The Debut took place at Ågården
in August 1987. The band performed 4 songs including a cover
of Depeche Mode's song "Photographic". The concert
ended with a 45 minute long improvised medly including every
synthsong the band knew how to play. The encore ended with
Magns sitting on a chair singing while the audience danced
on the stage.
In December the same year the performed at Stadt Hamburg in
Malmö
At this point in time we had written even more songs and thought
it would be a good time to make a demo. The demo titled "War
And Emotions" was recorded at NBV studios in Ystad and
was released in the late spring 1988. The release coincided
with our third live performance at the theatre in Ystad where
we performed for the largest audience this far, about 500
persons showed up.

After a couple of successful performances at
Ystad theatre the following years and other performances around
the region led to an increasing sale of the demotape. During
1989 we continued writing new material and also participated
in a talent competition.
The studio in wich we recorded our first demo
in closed in the winter -88. This meant that we didn't have
the equipment to record a new one, but as the amount of material
grew steadily we decided to borrow and rent the equipment
we needed. The result became our second demo titled "From
The Cradle To The Grave" wich was released in August
1990. Shortly after the release it was time for us to do our
compulsory time in the army. After it was finished we started
study at diffrent universities in both Sweden and abrod. This
meant that Etage Neun was put on a hold for a long time...
In 1997 we had ended our studies and we began talking about
getting back together and continue where we left off. We started
to write new material and got ourselves a homepage...
