Sweden has a very long tradition dealing with national registration. In late 1700th century, a new law was introduced and the name of this law was, 1686 years church law, this new law made it possible for the government (king) of Sweden to have control over its citizens by national registration. In 1749, the priests who had developed the system further on were told and ordered to rapport it to "Tabellverket". To day, it is called "statistiska centalbyrån". This registration has already taken placed for several hundred of years then the debate of the computer started. Because of the principle of public access to official records, this information became available for every one who was interested.

This registration is based on the citizens of Sweden’s personal number. The main numbers are the year of birth, month and day. One big problem is then people that have had its 100 birthday.
