The computer and the electronic industries and companies are a very young business. However, it has established it to be one of the leading businesses to day.

USA had from the start a big advantage towards other countries in computer business. On of the reasons are that the government of USA stimulated the market by buying computer to it selves.

Silicon Valley is on of 4 larger production areas for the computer industry. The other three are, Dallas- Texas, Phoenix-Arizona and some older companies on the East Coast.

USA has lost some advantage to Japan. A war is coming up between manufactures in Japan and US. Japan has a very big advantage or you could say a tradition with a disciplined and loyal work force.

In West Europe, is the EU trying to make some co-operation in the computer and electronic areas just to stand against the USA and Japan.

All development and manufacturing in East Europe are under control by the SEV, and SEV is a corporate organization in eastern Europe for trade and manufacturing by SEVs members countries. SEV and eastern Europe are several years after western countries and they are dependent on import from western countries and smuggling.

NIC-countries such as Brazil, South Korean, Mexico and Taiwan Have jumped on the computer train and they are very hopeful about their software development.

Sweden’s position in the computer and electronic business in a international perspective, are very small.
