This means that we are talking about vinyl releases of Garage days. The version is released in 1987 by the record company CBS/SONY which is a Japanese label (Jap = Japan). It comes with a poster as well as the lyrics and an order form. Some words below might be new to some of you, so I will here try to explain them.

PROMO
A promo or promotional copy of an album, single or video is released to be sent out to the press for reviews and air play. Albums normally only have a sticker, or a gold stamp on the sleeve saying "promotional copy not for sale". Singles may differ a lot more with different covers and edit version of the song. This because the Radio stations only play short songs. Some titles are only released as promos like the "Mandatory Metallica" CD which is a compilation of songs from all the albums. These discs can be very hard to find, as they are only sent out to radio stations, magazines etc., and never sold to regular shops

DEMO
An early version of a song which was recorded during rehearsals etc. There vere not meant for the public, but Metallica has released some as b-sides for singles. Metallica also recorded some demos prior to Kill 'em all

FACTORY SLEEVE
A standard cover for CD, album, single, or maxi single. These covers do only have the name of the record company on it.

33 / 45 rpm
rpm = rounds per minute. Vinyl can be played at two speeds, 33 or 45 rpm. 33 is usually for albums, while 45 rpm for singles and maxi singles

OBI-STRIP
This is a paper banner which you will find on most Japanese albums and CDs. These has the band name and title in Japanese, and sometime some words about other albums with the same band. It is cheaper to buy an import version than the Japanese version in Japan, so to stop people buying imported CDs and albums, the Japanese record labels include an extra track, a poster, lyrics or other bonuses. Both "the black album" and "..and justice for all" comes with an extra track in Japan, and "Load" has the lyrics included

GATEFOLD
When you can open the vinyl album like a book. "Load" on double vinyl, as well as many other albums, has gatefold covers

DIGIPACK
Gatefold covers on CDs. Thick paper cover which you can open

CARD BOARD SLEEVE
Small paper envelope. Mostly on two track CD singles

PICTURE DISC
When the vinyl album and singles has a picture on the whole disc. Some CDs are also picture discs but that's not so strange as all CDs has print on the disc. Music For Nations released all albums on some nice picture discs in 1986

TEST PRESSINGS
When the pressing plant start manufacturing the vinyl albums and singles, they have to do a test pressing first to make sure the sound is good enough. They first tried to print "…And justice for all" on one disc, but failed as it is not possible to put so much music on one disc without losing sound quality.

REMASTERED
y re-do the sound to make a better sound quality on the CD

GOLD DISC
The play side of the CD is covered by gold to make the sound quality better. All the albums were released on gold discs in Australia in 1995 to promote the upcoming tour.

FAN CAN / METALLICAN
A tin can with a CD and some other stuff. These are very rare, but you might still be able to get your hands on the European Metallican for "The black album" with gold CD, video, T-shirt witch was printed in 35.000 copies. FanCans are released yearly by the official fan club and sold only to members. These include recorded material only available in this package

COLORED VINYL
Vinyl albums which has another color than the most common black. The "Creeping death" maxi single is released in 7 different colors
