Kayak
99
Have you always wanted to paddle a kayak in Stockholm's archipelago?
I am planning a paddling trip from Waxholm into the archipelago. The aim
is to get a group of between 15 and 25 people together to have fun, experience
the archipelago and meet new people!
Kayaking
We
will hire ocean kayaks from Skärgårdens kanotcentral at Engarn near Waxholm.
The paddling will be relaxed with ~2 hours on Friday and ~5-6 hours paddling
per day on Saturday and Sunday. There will be plenty of time to
eat, swim, fish, sunbathe and relax. You do not have to have any previous
paddling experience. We will paddle in relatively enclosed water. If you
want to test what it is like to paddle before you decide to come you can
go on an introductory evening at Brunnsvikens
kanotcentral.
The route
We will paddle from Engarn to a small island called Ekholmen, where we
will camp. We will paddle to Grinda on Saturday. There are lots of different
places where we can spend the night.
When
The trip will start on Friday the 16th of July and end on Sunday the 18th.
We will collect the kayaks at 16.00 on Friday and return at 18.00 on Sunday.
Cost and booking
A kayak costs 525 Kr for a weekend. The booking is binding.
You are responsible for booking your own Kayak. Book soon to guarantee
a kayak! Mail and telephone numbers at the bottom of the page.
Food
I will prepare a meal for everyone on Friday evening. There will be two
Indian curries--one meat and one vegetarian with rice and Indian bread.
The cost will be ~50 Kr. Bring lots of food--paddling is one of the best
ways to work up an appetite! It is a good idea to have some sort of sweets
or snacks that you can eat on the way.
Camping
We will camp on Friday and Saturday nights. See the map
for locations.
Weather
There is more sun the further you get out into the archipelago--so don't
forget the sun cream! The outer archipelago has almost the same amount
of sunshine as Gotland!

Recommended equipment:
food for breakfast, lunch, Saturday evening and Sunday,
camping stove/trangia,
large water containers--at least 5 litres per person,
wine/beer,
waterproofs and a change of clothing,
sunglasses and cap,
suntan cream,
sleeping bag and camping mattress,
waterproof plastic bags for clothing, sleeping bag, phone, wallet etc.
torch,
insect repellent,
map of the area,
frisbee:-).

Mail me at christopher.walker@swipnet.se
or ring me on 070 317 16 96. Include your phone numbers, if you need a
