Protoss strategy

Lets see, right now im not sure i really want to give away the Zealot  Quickie-rush strat (im sure you understand, with a strat like that, who knows who will get good?:)...

Well i guess i can give a few pointers, some hints for the Newbies perhaps ? Well, ill try to say a use for most units (and try to remember the cost of that unit)

(M=Minerals   G=Gas)

Probe (50M): This one is probably pretty obvious as you use it to get minerals, the good side of the probe: can build many things in a VERY SHORT time, by this i mean.. that if you have for Example 600M you could start constructing 3 pylons and 2 gates almost at the same time.

Zealot (100M): This is the most powerfull "1st offensive unit" (Zergs is Zerglings and Terrans are the Marines), the Protoss Zealot can withstand Enormous emounts of damage, and altough he is quite slow compared to the Marine and the Zergling, the Zealot  can often kill withstand 3 zergling for a very long time (often the zealot also leaves the battle victorious). And with the enchanted leg upgrade at the Citadel, the Zealot also moves pretty fast, thus makeing it even MORE deadly than before, this makes it perfect for anti-chokepoint-defence.

Dragoon (150M? 50G): The Protoss Dragoon is a unit i often overlook, i dont know why, but i often skip the Dragoon, dont think that that makes it crappy, actually its a pretty powerfull unit, but i prefer to skip if, and get for example Archons or Scouts instead (as they are more powerfull). They have pretty good range and pretty good damage, but  due to its low HP and Shields it makes a fairly poor closecombat opponent.

Templar (50M 150G): The Protoss Templar is a great unit, and Psi storm is probably one of the most powerfull spells in the game, this is probably due to Zerg often clumping together during the attacks.. or Hydras and Zerglings burrowing pretty tightly, it just takes 2-3 Templars, and the poor unknowing Zergs are just a bloody heap. Hallucination is the other great Templar spell. It creates a copy of the unit it is targeted at, pretty good, put this on a scout for example, and just let it fly around, as its just an illusion it will not do damage to neither you nor your opponent (but will still get the wanted effect: seeing what yuor poor foolish enemy is doing). Lovely unit, but often passed by me, as it often takes just TOO DAMN LONG TIME TO GET MANA!!! The 3rd advantage of the templar is that 2 Templars can merge together and thus createing another great Unit:

Archon (2 Templars(100M 300G)): The Protoss Archon is created by melting 2 Templars into 1 Archons, The Archon is a powerfull foe, with up to 350 in Shields(!), There is a weakness though(isnt there allways?) the Archon only haves 10 HP, so its pretty useless Vs. Terrans as they often get Science Vessels to counter the Archons with EMP, and thus removeing all the shields, leaving a weak thingamajing with 10 Hp (OUCH!) and it is in the middle of a battle (and you dont have several Battery packs near) you will loose big parts of your army, Vs Zerg though, you are really in luck, only thing they can do, is put plauge at you, (and what differance does 9 Hp do??).

Observer(25M? 50G?): This is THE best Detector in the game, as it is permanently cloaked, and so it is virtually invisible, that is, unless there is a detector close to detect your detector, it is great during massed charges, and those pesky wraiths come out to play, and you just send in a observer, thus makeing it totaly invisible in the Chaos.

Shuttle(200M): The Protoss Shuttle is a pretty good APC(and no, it doesnt have any weaponry). Upgraded in the Robotics Facility you will be able to fly much quicker. This unit is essential to the Reaver DROP (*DOH!*) its pretty much the same as the Terran Dropship.

Reaver(M? G?): The Protoss Reaver is a great unit, its has second (third?) longest range in the game only surpassed by the destroying Siege Tanks and probably the horrible Guardian. It needs to produce weaponry, a kind of mini-reaver, or a Scarab(15M), you can have 10 of these if you have upgraded it at the Robotics Facility.

Carrier(350M 300G): The Protoss Carrier is a slow moveing (you guessed it) carrier, it has little Hp, and the shield aint much better. You must produce Interceptors(30M), a kind of offensive spaceship, in your Carriers(you can have 8 as max if researched at the Fleet Beacon). If you are going to use these, remember not to do anything with less than 12 of them!!!, they are otherwise cannonfooder to just about anything, but produce quite some damage in larger numbers (just imagine a storm of 12x8 Interceptors, it can get pretty ugly if they arent escorted by atleast 12 Scouts.)

Scout(300M 150G): The Protoss Scout is THE BEST PROTOSS UNIT(!!!), atleast thats what i think. It has a great ATA weapon, dealing damage almost the same as the Terran BattleCruise(!!), and a ATS weapon with quite some impact. However great this unit it is, it needs to get its speed upgraded, or it can get into quite some trouble. With the speed upgrade, a armada of scouts is something of the best units available to scout for expansions, and to "break through" the defences and go straight for the bases heart (dont forget to leave a host of leg enhanced Zealots outside the enemy base to get anything that tries to leave), the Nexus/Hatchery/CommandCentre.

Arbiter(50M? 500G): Combine this unit with an armada of scouts and 1 or 2 observers, and you will be able to destroy ANYTHING that doesnt have a detector, if you dont understand what i mean, the arbiter makes all friendly troops within a certain area invisible (not ALLIES though, only team mêlée(for example)). Not only does it carry a stealth generator (cloaking device)(it doesnt work on the arbiter, or other arbiters.) it has 2 quite good spells. 1st is Stasis field, this encloses the enemy unit in a prison of Crystal, which lasts a few minutes, and during that time, the unit is not attackable, or attack-able. And then there is Recall, recall is a good spell to get units to the heat of action in a hurry (good as a alternative reaver drop?), a sad thing is that you cant recall enemy units, as then you could have grabbed the siege tanks out of the terran defences :)

A little pointer: SPEED IS LIFE !!!!!!!

Well thats it! ENJOY!! :)
