While visiting San Francisco, EMU O'HARA witnesses the murder of a Yakuza gangster. He is gunned down before her eyes by a handsome and powerful young man who, upon killing his victim, can't control the tears that stream down his cheeks Since her childhood, Emu feels guilty for the death of her parents. She lives a sheltered life, longing for punishment Returning her home in Vancouver, Emu has become an important witness for the police and the powerfull yakuza leader Shimasaki, father of the executed gangster in San Francisco. The mysterious assassin belongs to a secret Chinese organization, the Sons of the Dragon. He is known as CRYING FREEMAN
Taken at the city hall by Detective Netah, Emu is once again witness of a murder. A masked man shoots Shimasaki in broad daylight. She is the only one to recognize him : the legendary Freeman...
Knowing he will come to kill her like he usually does of each witness, and strangely, wanting to die, she waits for him. When she comes face to face with the Freeman, Emu asks him to become her first and last lover. Unable to kill her, the young man is liberated from the hypnotic curse that made him an assassin.
The two lovers run away together. They are now wanted by the Dragons and the new leaders of the yakuza clan, ryuiji hanada....
