Every autumn the world’s largest shoals of herring migrate into Vestfjord in Norway to spend the winter. In their wake, some of the world’s greatest congregations of killer whales follow. At most, there are more than 600 killer whales concentrated within a relatively small area of the Vestfjord. From our boats you will be able to observe the lords of the sea at close range. In groups of from 5-10, the killer whales hunt in a team – a fantastic show in incredibly beautiful surroundings.
Day 1
Arrival Evenes Airport From here you will be transported by chartered coach to Lødingen and Offersøy Feriencenter (our guides will welcome you and will provide necessary information.) and watch a video showing featuring hunting killer whales and Dinner.
Day 2
After breakfast we will review safety and the use of life-saving equipment on board the boats. We then set course for the open sea and our killer whale safari. The amount of time needed to locate the whales may vary a bit and it may take some time before we see them. Once they are sighted, we will approach them and enjoy a stall seat view of this exciting hunt for herring prey. A light lunch will be served on board during our safari. As it begins to get dark, we will return to our base camp at Offersøy for a delicious dinner.
Day 3
After breakfast we will leave once again for another safari outing and more killer whale sightings. At the same time we will look for the phenomenal white tailed sea eagle that are so abundant here. Once we have had our fill of whale watching, we will return to Offersøy for Dinner and Orcacertificate.
A perfect finale to a fairy tale trip in the North!
