The Intel Pentium Pro Processor features an internal 256K or 512K cache which eliminates the need for an external cache module. This improves CPU efficiency and data transfers rates between CPU and cache due to the shorter distance information needs to travel.
The Tyan Dual Pentium pro main system board will operate in either single or dual CPU configurations.
The advantage of a dual processor design (SMP or Symetrical Multi Processing) is that when running a SMP compatible O/S, such as Windows NT or Novell, and an SMP compliant application, you can expect at significant increase in operation speed for that particular application. You can expect about 80% efficiency from the second CPU but actual speed differences depend largely on the O/S and it's application.
SMP is suited for high end CAD, graphics, and 3D Animation.
