Notes

Germany incl. BRD (West Germany). Yugoslavia incl. Serbia and Montenegro For alltimetable purposes I have counted the last eight as being the final tournament although 1994-96 only the last four actually played in the final tournament and 1978-92 there was no final tournament at all. Official European U21 Championship from 1986 and onwards. 2007: The fifth place playoff is not counted as it was only Olympic qualifying and not actually part of the European Championships as such. Note: The hosts of the final tournament 1994-2006 are counted here as they were designated hosts after the qualifying was concluded and thus not automatically qualified. 2007 and 2009 were Netherlands and Sweden, respectively, designated hosts before the qualifying started and did not participate there (i.e. in the qualifying). 1980: Turkey vs. Hungary was awarded 0-3, original score was 2-3 and Romania vs. Turkey awarded 3-0, original score 2-1. The reason was some sort irregularity on the Turkish part. 2000: The game Ireland vs. FYR Macedonia was awarded 3-0 as the latter had used an ineligible player. The original score was 0-0. 2000: The tie England vs. Yugoslavia was played over one leg on neutral venue because of civil unrest in Yugoslavia. 2004: The game Sweden vs. San Marino was awarded 0-3 as the former had two suspended players in the squad of whom one played. The original score was 6-0. 2004: The game Ireland vs. Albania was awarded 0-3 as the former had used an ineligible player. The original score was 2-1. 2009: The game Latvia vs. San Marino was awarded 3-0 as the latter had used an ineligible player. The original score was 2-0.
