Gunnar Wefring - Löten, Hedmark 24th may 1900 - 20th march 1981.

Son of Karl Wilhelm Wefring (1867-1938) profession: Med.doctor and
Secretary of State. Wife: Johanne Christine (Kitty) Meyer (1874-1930)

Gunnar Wefring married in 1924 to Signe Ivarsdotter Mortensson Egnund,
daughter of Ivar Mortensson Egnund (1857-1934) profession: Known as
"The Poetry Priest". Wife: Karen F. Nielsen.

Children: Inger Johanne Tusta Wefring (1925) profession: Textile Designer
and Ivar Wefring (1927-1978) profession: Jazzpianist

The motifs were often landscapes, portraits, acts, lifepaintings and interiors.
Many of his paintings were inspired by the Norwegian mountain landscape.

Other Information

Gunnar Wefring wrote the books "Maling som hobby" (Painting as a
hobby; Oslo 1953) and "Tegning som hobby" (Drawing as a hobby;
Oslo 1954) - Fabritius publishers. He also contributed to many other
books, as well as wrote articles for magazines. He held courses in
Fine Art
in various schools and via correspondence. Gunnar Wefring
painted portraits on commision, which today can be seen in several
public places. Furthermore, the artist Edward Munch was in close
contact with the Med.Dr. Karl Wilhelm Wefring.
