I love this comic strip so much and I was heartbroken when I heard that Bill Watterson had decided to stop making Calvin & Hobbes. It was several years ago that he made that announcment and I think it chocked many people. Including myself.
I´ve had a lot of laughs following Calvin on his trip through the world. He´s not like your ordinary kid, but that´s what I love about him. He has a great imagination and creates worlds when he´s bored.

CALVIN

Calvin is named after a sixteenth-century theologian who believed in predestination. He´s about 7 years old and his best friend is a stuffed tiger named Hobbes. To Calvin Hobbes is a walking talking full skilled tiger but the rest of the world can´t see Hobbes like Calvin, they only see the stuffed toy.
Calvin hates school and he´s constantly trying to get away from there in one way or another. His principal has a thick dossier on Calvin´s various trickery. You never know what´s gonna happen next! You have to give Calvin credit for his imagination...

HOBBES

Named after a seventeenth-century philosopher. Hobbes loves tunafish and he´ll do almost anything to get it. Like most tigers he enjoys sleeping in the sun, chasing live prey (Calvin) and explore the world around him.
Hobbes likes to pretend that he´s very smart and he helps Calvin with his homework. Let´s just say that it hasn´t improved Calvin´s grades!
Hobbes is very proud of being a tiger and he teases Calvin a lot for being a human. Calvin wants to be tiger becuase they don´t have to go to school.

OTHER CHARACTERS

Calvin´s parents doesn´t have any names. They´re known to us simply as mom & dad. They try to keep Calvin on the ground, teaching him about life, but Calvin´s not too interseted in hearing what they have to say. I think that they do a remarkable job raising a kid like Calvin. He´s very demanding and takes up most of their time.

Susie is a classmate of Calvin and they live on the same street as well. Susie thinks that Calvin is very wierd and disgusting. Calvin doesn´t have too many happy thoughts of her either, but I think that deep down they have a little crush on each other.
Susie is very smart and she actually enjoys going to shcool to learn new things. The only thing about school she doesn´t like is being in the same room as Calvin. The wierdest things have a tendency to happen!

Mrs. Wormwood is Calvin´s teacher and she`s got a lot to do trying to keep Calvin in his seat and getting him to pay attention. Calvin daydreams a lot and mrs. Wormwood is very aware of that.
She smokes too much and she takes a lot of medication thanks to Calvin. I think that she´s counting her days to her retirement. Then she may finally get some rest!

Rosalyn is Calvin´s sitter and she appears sometimes in the series. Calvin & Hobbes has declared war against her and they do their best to try and stay up as long as possible. That includes stealing her homework and using it as a hostage and tricking her to go outside and then look the door behind her.

Moe is Calvin´s enemy number one in school. A real bully. Moe makes him give up his money and if Calvin doesn´t have any Moe beats the shit out of him. I think that there are assholes like that in every school. I know what it´s like and I can´t say that I think too much of Moe. He reminds me a lot of my own bully!
