"Double drumstick"The inventor´s words. After having played the drums during the last part of the fifties and the sixties, I have been experimenting a great deal. Among other things with holding two sticks in the right hand to get a better beat on he ride cymbal and in that way produce a flam beat. This is a full and good accompaniment to slow jazz, blues tunes and ballads. During the past years I have seen all variants, from holding two sticks in one hand to holding maracas or tambourine together with the drumsticks. Of course nothing is impossible. So the thought has been on my mind for a long time to make an own drumstick. But not until the modern Techno and Housemusic had awoken my interest, I understood that it is possible to make a drumstick that is useable in most music styles. To compete with a
drummachine has to be pure dream to a drummer. The fast hihat
accompaniment, you can easily create by having double sticks and
astraddling the hihat, use the movement as a ricochet. By having a
light touch you can create a powerful swing without major effort. Of
course some practice is needed, but as said before: When you have
learned to ride a bike you know how to do it. The GrooVe Stick makes drum playing more effective. -When you astraddle the hihat and move the GrooVe Stick upwards and downwards, you easily perform very fast tempos. Notice how you can match and backup the hihat playing with the hand you use for an ordinary drum stick, without pausing the hihat playing. CONTINUITY in other words! -If you twist the GrooVe Stick a little and attack the ride cymbal, you get a flams beat that sounds good on all cymbals and drums. Extremely good to slow jazz, blues tunes and ballads. -With the GrooVe Stick in one hand and an ordinary drum stick in the other, it gets easier to play rolls. The GrooVe Stick can do everything an ordinary drum stick can do, PLUS A LITTLE MORE! I can promise you a different sound and monstrous possibilities. The GrooVe Stick is turned, bent and strengthened in the handle with a rabbet to increase the glue area and prevent vibrations in the handle. Du matchar och backar upp Hi-hatspelet med en vanlig trumstock i vänster hand. Lägg märke till inga luckor i Hi-hatspelet. KONTINUITET med andra ord. Vrid lite på GrooVe stick och attackera ride-cymbalen, du har här ett flamslag som låter bra på alla cymbaler. Fantastiskt bra till långsam jazz, blues eller ballader. Med GrooVe stick i en hand och en vanlig trumstock(5b) i den andra blir det lättare att spela virvlar(rolls). Som sagt GrooVe stick kan allt en vanlig trumstock kan, plus lite till.
